David Howie of Saab, Inc. to Speak at First Hot Stove of 2026
It's that time of year again, when we fire up the proverbial Hot Stove. Hot Stove is a great excuse to get out for a couple of hours on a Thursday night and visit with other community members while hearing all sorts of interesting and entertaining speakers. Hot Stove is a free event that happens every other Thursday night at 6:00PM from January 29 to April 23 in the Lovells Township Hall at 8405 Twin Bridge Rd (1/4 mile north of CR612). Our first speaker of 2026 on January 29

Our World is Smaller Without Glen Blackwood
Glen at the 2025 Fall Upland Dinner The Lovells Township Historical Society is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Glen Blackwood. For over three decades, Glen was a prominent figure in the fly-fishing and wing-shooting communities, both in Michigan and across the United States. In Lovells, we were fortunate to have Glen as a dedicated supporter of our community, particularly the Trout Fishing History Museum and the North Branch Area Foundation. He was always a welcome

Hot Stove Season is Here! Mark Your Calendars.
It's that time of year again, TIME FOR HOT STOVE! What is Hot Stove? Lovells Hot Stove nights have been popular winter events for years. In the quiet months of winter, when our summer visitors are gone and the nights are cold and long it is a pleasure to join neighbors at the township hall and listen to a variety of informative, interesting, and inspiring speakers. The coffee pot is always warm but guests are welcome to bring their own refreshments or items to share as we ga

Lovells Township Historical Society Seeks Volunteers
Did you know that the Lovells Township Historical Society (LTHS) is run 100% by volunteers? Every dollar of our budget comes from donations, grants or, sometimes, ticket sales for the community events we put on. Not only do we preserve and exhibit the fascinating history of the area, we try to enrich our community life with events throughout the year. All of this happens because people like you join us in a variety of ways. We are starting some work groups and committees to p
