We were all excited to welcome Bruce Barlow, a Wildlife Biologist from MIDNR, to Hot Stove last week. He discussed a range of topics, beginning with GEMS (Grouse Enhanced Management Sites) and continuing with Forest Management. Bruce's passion for grouse and woodcock was clear and he has made many contributions over his storied career that benefit us all. It was also fortunate that some of Bruce's MIDNR friends came along. One of the great things about the casual environment of Hot Stove is that you don't always know just where the conversation is going. Tom Barnes is the forest Resource Protection Manager in the lower peninsula and he had lots to add to Bruce's forest Management discussion. We are lucky to have such knowledgeable and passionate people working for us.
